Born in the UK and proud of our Jamaican heritage, we’re a family of five who decided to step outside the life we had always known and create something different.

In 2024, we left the UK and set off on a journey across Europe. That journey eventually led us to rural Bulgaria, where we bought an old farmhouse and began building a new life from the ground up.

We renovated, grew food, explored our surroundings, learned to adapt to a different culture and discovered that starting again abroad comes with just as many challenges as it does opportunities.

But our story didn’t stop in Bulgaria.

Life took an unexpected turn, and we found ourselves exploring a new chapter in Türkiye. What started as another part of our journey has become a place where we’re now putting down fresh sticks and seeing where this next chapter takes us.

From leaving the UK, buying our Bulgarian home and navigating life abroad, to travelling, overcoming setbacks and now building a future in Türkiye, Fresh Start Sticks is about the reality of starting again.

We share the good, the difficult, the unexpected and everything in between — because a fresh start isn’t always a straight line.

Sometimes you have to move forward, change direction and put down your sticks somewhere new.
